Headmasters School of Hair Design has been educating and training future beauty professionals since 1981. Students develop fundamental and advanced skills throughout their training. The Headmasters educational program not only provides technical training in all aspects of cosmetology, it also educates students in building clientele, opening a salon, and advancing them personally in all aspects of their careers. At Headmasters, our students receive the best systematic instruction, training, and demonstrations in the area. Our students are trained in esthetics, cosmetology, nails, and makeup. Peggy Foster, Owner Sharon Wick and Joyce Becker opened Headmasters in 1981. Headmasters' first location was in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Headmasters expanded 6 months later to beautiful downtown Lewiston. They became accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences in 1986. Soon after, they were recognized by the US Dept. of Education as a Post-Secondary Institution. Headmasters has also been licensed by the Idaho Board of Cosmetology since it opened.

Peggy Foster purchased the Lewiston Headmasters School of Hair Design in 1997 and has been the primary owner since. All Cosmetology education is about learning to do hair, facials, nails, etc. Headmasters takes it a step further and includes education in building a clientele, opening a salon, and helping students grow personally through the “Breaking Down Your Walls” program.

Students complete a mock board at the school which has resulted in a 100% passing rate at boards. Since all current and former owners have salon experience, they know how important it is to expose students to nationally recognized professional products like Paul Mitchel, Nioxin, Aquage, Bedhead, OPI and Pharmagel.

Educators from Paul Mitchel, Nioxin, Bedhead, OPI and Pharmagel have been guests at the school to offer updated and advanced education to the students. Each month students who have achieved Honors Status are treated to lunch with an area stylist where they have a chance to interact and learn from an established pro.

The staff at Headmasters have attended classes from Milady Master Educators, Inspiring Champions, Breaking Down Your Walls, Pivot Point, and the Paul Mitchel Gathering in Las Vegas to continue their education. Staff also attend the CosmoProf annual Northwest show in Bellevue. Students and staff contribute to the community by volunteering for food drives, YWCA, Hair for Plays, Distinguished Young Women of the Year, Relay for Life, Beautiful Downtown Lewiston, Northwest Children's Home, Toys for Tots, and Locks of Love, providing wig services for cancer patients. Many of Headmasters graduates have gone on to open their own salons. Scruples, The Parlor, Allen and Company, Moxey. Signatures Salon and Spa, Chrome and many other well known salons in and around the area are owned by Headmasters graduates.
